5/8" solid tines. Usually we do 1.5" x 1.5" spacing, but we had a lot of 3/4" mount tines left over from our fall fairway aeration so we decided to go with a 2" x 2" spacing to use the tines up. This allowed us to use our Aerocore 1500 (we did however just purchase 3/8" mount quad blocks for it) along with our Toro Procore 648.
Once the sand was completely dry we then aerated the greens. The new twist which was conceived by Mike Conklin during a discussion at our recent WWGCSA Round Table Meeting is dragging a steel drag mat behind both aerators. It was AMAZING! After aerating the green, it only needed 4 guys with back pack blowers to fill in the remaining holes which took about 15 minutes a green. No tires were on the green from start to finish! ZERO rutting.T
Tomorrow we will roll the greens with a 1 ton vibratory asphalt roller to smooth them again. After that we'll double verticut without baskets and blow the clippings off with a ProForce blower for the finish product.
