Pawn shops lose out sometimes also... People walk in and see what they think is a $1400 guitar with a $900 price tag on it and think they are getting a bargain. Later they usually find out they have been scammed. Lots of scammers buy cheaper copies or the lower end version and sand down the headstock and place a fake decal on. This may be a similar experience that you have had. I've seen many Les Pauls and Stratocasters that have been faked. Either by China or a DIY kit with a phoney decal. Even a cheaper version with a high end appointments to make them look like the higher end model. I have seen it all in doing this for over 30 years. This one is no exception. When someone does a good job or it looks professional, it may fool you at first. Since I am friends with this particular pawn shop owner, he calls me when he gets on questionable in. He usually shoots me some pics and I try and help him out before he spends any money. I showed him this video before I uploaded it to youtube and he was only slightly disappointed. His gut feeling hit him and he did the right thing, but upon his research, he thought it was a Telecoustic Fender neck, which has the same headstock with only Fender on it. Which would be correct, except this one has a different sized font. If I had to guess before taking it apart, I would have called it a partscaster with a value of maybe $300 retail. Come to find out, that it was a..... well.... just watch the video! LOL! Please...
