Video for "Klapperthal" from the album "Neature" by Breaking Sculptures.
The Klapperthal trail is a hiking trail in Reading, Pennsylvania through the Neversink Mountain Area. In the late 1800's and early 1900's the area was a popular tourist destination, and had a large hotel, trolley line, and lots of other amusement activities. A fire destroyed the Neversink Mountain Hotel in 1905, and by 1917 all trolley lines were abandoned. Nowadays all that remains are a few scattered foundations in the woods, overgrown and long-forgotten.
We often went to Klapperthal to clear our minds - It was a favorite spot for shooting the shit, blazing, or even a philosophical discussion. The scenic view from the top of the mountain always invoked awe - Looking out over the valley, the corridor of hills, a Reading Railroad train chugging around the curve of the calm, fast Schuylkill river below.
