The Executive Producer varies studio vs Independent film and it can be kind of confusing on what an Executive Producer actually does. A large part of what the responsibilities are vary per project. I cant stress that enough. There are some who'll say they did more than what I laid out, and some others that did less. It all depends.
Producers are responsible for the overall success of a film, and that includes the Executive Producer.
