I built a very sturdy tailgate table for my Jeep Wrangler JKU myself using readily available parts. If you are even slightly handy you can do this too and make something custom for your Jeep. There are several models out on the market that are ready made but they can get expensive. I wanted my own look and figured I could save money making it my self.

Everything I used is available at your local Home Depot, Lowe's, or local hardware / lumber supply. The brackets I ordered off of Amazon:
