The woodcock is a small, plump bird known for its distinctive long bill and mottled brown plumage, which provides excellent camouflage in its woodland habitat.
Woodcock hunting is a popular activity among bird hunters due to the bird’s elusive nature and challenging flight patterns. Hunters typically pursue woodcock in dense, brushy areas where the birds are likely to be found. Pursuing these game birds is a great early season warm-up for a bird dog, as they are known to hold tight until flushed.
In this video we hunt Woodcock on public land in Minnesota with our 2 year old Pudelpointer hunting dogs, Atlas and Achilles.
