This man was the most lucky and the most unlucky Roman Emperor. Vespasian rose from humble origins, earning his first break when he showed brilliance in command of a Roman legion. He was in the good books of Emperor Claudius until he displeased the Emperor's wife at a party forcing him to retire. He re-emerged from retirement when Emperor Nero came to power, but his career was derailed again when he fell asleep while Nero was playing liar. His fortune sank so low that he had to drive donkeys. However, his luck revived again when the Romans needed someone to suppress a Jewish rebellion. While he was engaged in that, Nero died, which led to the year of the three emperors. When emperors were dying like fleas, he threw his name in the hat and succeeded urinals. His own son confronted him and told him that it was disgusting to charge people for urinating. Vespasian responded by holding a coin beneath his son's nose and said, Money does not smell.
