You’ll receive the power strip and a brief instruction manual. The power strip is made of lightweight plastic and weighs only 1 lb. It measures 7”W x 3.5”L x 1”H. There is a single power button for the entire strip, 4 USB ports which can output 2.1A total across all four ports,and 4 grounded outlets spaced 1.5” apart which can each be controlled individually. On the back are the specs, and this unit can only be used with 120V power while the max output is 10A,1250Watts and doesn’t provide significant surge protection. The power cable is 3’ long and has a hefty 14 AWG gauge.

In the user guide, you can find the QR code to scan that will take you to the download page for the Smart Life app so you can control the power strip remotely (WiFi router required). After installing the app, plug the power strip in and you should see a flashing LED light above the power button. This means the unit is ready to be connected to your home WiFi. Note that the unit can only connect to 2.4GHz networks and not 5 GHz networks. The unit takes only a feminutes to setup and was straight forward, following the instructions on-screen in the app. If the light on the power strip stops blinking, press and hold the power button on the power strip until it starts flashing again. This is also how you can switch to AP connection mode as well, indicated by a slowly blinking light, if the default EZ mode fails to connect.

Once connected you can name the power strip, which you can use for voice control. You can also individually name the sockets to control them one at a time. Note that the USB ports are controlled as a group and not individually, so either all four of them are on or all four are off. You can also add schedules to the sockets by picking the day of the week and time you want things to turn on or off. This can be a one-time timer or a recurring weekly or even daily timer. I found this smart power strip to be responsive and the outlets all worked for on/off control from the app and with voice commands using my Alexa enabled devices. Overall, it works well, was easy to setup and control, and lets me conveniently control things that are plugged into it remotely using Alexa voice commands or even when I’m away from home via the app (provided your WiFi network has internet access).
