München is the brand new tier 7 premium light German cruiser in World of Warships. Munchen is based on a light cruiser design developed prior to the outbreak of World War II (Cruiser "M"). The ship was notably different from the Königsberg and Nürnberg classes in terms of her artillery armament and layout, with superior speed. These M-class light cruisers were intended to serve as fast moving scouts in the Atlantic for raiding commercial convoys. These ships traded good armor protection in exchange for a very high speed of 36 knots. When it comes to the main armament Munchen gets the German standard set up of 4 twin turrets with both 2 fore and 2 aft with very good reload time on these with 150 mm caliber guns. In World of Warships, the München represents what the class would have looked like once completed with some changes to the AA armament. She represents the classic features of German cruisers but also gets the added bonus of having high top speed and good maneuverability. In 1937, the German Fleet Commander was presented a draft design of a light cruiser with a displacement of 7,900 tons; triple-shaft propulsion with an output of 120,000 horsepower; and a speed of 36 knots. The only significant improvement of the project involved replacing the central turbine with diesel engines. This increased the cruiser's operational range, which was one of the main requirements of the project. In April 1938, an order for a program to build 11 ships was signed and approved. However, by the time that World War II broke out, preparations for laying the M-class cruisers had only just begun in the shipyards, and their construction was soon halted.
But the project lives on in World of Warships, their designers have used the M-class cruiser specifications as the basis for creating cruiser München. Did you enjoy the video? Give it a LIKE!!! Loved it? Make sure to share with your friends and clanmates!
