6. SOUNDBITE (English) Rep. Byron Donalds, (R) Florida:
"A bump stock does not cause anybody to be shot in the United States of America. That is the shooter that does that. Not a piece of equipment. The bump stocks, if you will, is really just a brace for people who have arm injuries who still actively shoot."

7. SOUNDBITE (English) Rep. Adam Schiff, (D) California:
"Tragically, it means more innocent people are going to lose their lives because of this reactionary and partisan court, and because of the continuing, deathly obedience to the NRA by an entire Republican Party."
STORYLINE:
The Supreme Court on Friday struck down a Trump-era ban on bump stocks, a rapid-fire gun accessory that was used in the deadliest mass shooting in modern U.S. history in Las Vegas, in 2017, when a gunman attacked a country music festival with assault rifles equipped with bump stocks that allowed a rate of fire comparable to machine guns.
The high court's conservative majority found that the Trump administration did not follow federal law when it changed course from previous administrations.
Members of the House of Representatives reacted to the court's ruling in Washington. Rep. Ritchie Torres, (D) New York, said "we're the only wealthy country in the industrialized world that has an epidemic of gun violence and an epidemic of mass shootings, and that's not an inevitability. It's a policy choice, and it's being perpetuated by the Supreme Court."
Rep. Cory Mills, (R) Florida, said "I think that the Supreme Court's ruling demonstrates, once again, that the Second Amendment shall not be infringed means exactly that. And so, very pleased with the outcome."
