Across the globe, shifting weather patterns impact farming, water and many aspects of daily life. Awarded one of three UMD Grand Challenges Institutional Grants, Addressing Climate Challenges for a Sustainable Earth aims to develop better tools to forecast severe weather and inform at-risk communities.

The multi-faceted project features combined efforts from Atmospheric and Oceanic Science, Geology, Geographical Sciences, Marine Estuarine Environmental Sciences and the Earth System Science Interdisciplinary Center. Empowering students with experiential learning in a variety of forms, the project is committed to slowing the path of climate change.
