These tunnels in Vietnam are some of the most sophisticated underground tunnel networks in the world. They go 10 meters deep and are spread over 250 kms.
They play a huge rule in Vietnam’s resistance war, and getting its Independence. These tunnels were mainly dug with hand over a period of 30 years.
At one point the entire ecosystem lived under the ground with schools, hospitals, kitchens, military training centres all going underground.
📍 Cu chi Tunnels
Located in the Cu Chi district these tunnels are a part of a much larger network of tunnels In Vietnam.
These tunnels were first established during the French colonial rule to escape prosecution, smuggle food and build up the Vietnamese fight for independence.
Built over 25 years, the Cu Chi tunnels had a major role to play in Vietnam’s fight for independence.
During the Vietnam War the Cu Chi tunnels were extended over an area of 250 kms To launch Guerrilla warfare against the Americans.
Guerrilla warfare is a form of irregular warfare where small groups use military methods like ambush, raids , hit and run tactics against a much bigger organised traditional military
Now These tunnels play an important role in Vietnam history. And believe it or not back in the day people lived full time in these tunnels and they even had kitchens, schools, hospitals, theatres , training centres.

The best way to get to get there is through a guided tour.

You get picked up from your hotel at Ho Chi Minh at 8 am and dropped back at 6 pm.
The tour includes entry and some refreshments.
Shooting Range- you can fire AK-47 , M16’s and M60’s at the shooting range within the same complex.
