This is a Medical Qi Gong exercise to balance the physical and energetic qualities of the Wood Phase and its associated liver and gallbladder meridians.
Stand tall with you feet pointing straight ahead and hands at the hips facing outward. Quickly begin to extend ech arm quickly out in front of you. Inhale hand back to hip and exhale thrusting the opposite palm forward.
Beside the liver and gallbladder wind channels, the Wood Phase is also associated with Spring, tension in the shoulder, neck, and jaw, and the quality of growth. Practice this exercise if you're healing in these areas or experiencing tension headaches. Just as the mighty oak grows from a single sprout, if you notice your emotions becoming overly huge or find yourself resistant to self growth, you may also want to practice this Qi Gong to blow off some steam.
