Bjorn Olthof, Senior Manager Graduate Recruitment EMEA for Hilton explains why the most known hospitality company around the world recruits Les Roches students.
On may 31, 2019 – Hilton celebrates a very special milestone: its 100th birthday. The past century has been quite a trip for one of the world’s most recognizable hospitality names.
With 14 hotel brands now operating in more than 106 countries throughout the world, Hilton has an exceptionally strong appetite for new talent. And this is only going to intensify as the company rolls out an ambitious expansion program that means every fifth hotel room currently under construction will carry a Hilton family logo.

Hilton as a company is the most known hospitality company around the world. Next year we will celebrate our centennial birthday, we have existed for 100 years, and we set out on the path of what we call the ‘Hilton Effect’. It's about how we, as a company, have made an impact in communities, with our team members, our guests, suppliers over the last 100 years and all the innovations and technologies that we went through.
Today we operate 14 brands in over 106 countries around the world, and every fifth hotel room around the world currently under construction carries a Hilton logo. So you might want to say that our future looks very bright, we grow very rapidly, and as a result we are always in search of great talent to join our company and be part of that successful journey.
We come to Les Roches to recruit students for our Faster Graduate Schemes, not only in EMEA by the way, that's my region, but also supporting our colleagues in Asia Pacific, in the Americas as we are truly a global company, that's how we like to process.
We’re very much aware that not everybody has an idea or wants to get into a fast-track scheme, so as result we’re also offering our direct-entry roles as well as corporate and hotel-based interns.
The reason why we come here is because Les Roches has always been a very truthful partner to us. Most applications that we do receive for our grad schemes in Europe and Middle East and Africa are from Les Roches here in Bluche, as well as the one in Marbella, so for us it’s critical to be here.
I spoke to many students here today and other students at other fairs before. Fairs like these, as exciting as they are, they also tend to be quite confusing in terms of you’re meeting so many people, there’s so many great stories, they all look alike and it’s very hard to make your decision.
My advice to students would be go on LinkedIn, reach out, follow our leaders on Instagram. Get out there, get to know people, speak, connect, reach out. Ask them the questions about what is good, what is bad, what is ugly about what you do. Get the real answers there and based on that, get your opinions out.
I hope to see loads of them entering the Hilton stands and I’m pretty sure that, if not now, then at one point in time they come across our path anyway, so I'm looking forward to that.
