In a tragic incident, at least 107 people, mostly women, lost their lives in a stampede during a religious event in Uttar Pradesh's Hathras district on July 2. The tragedy occurred shortly after religious preacher Bhole Baba addressed his followers under a tent specially set up in Rati Bhanpur village, Hathras district. According to the police, initial investigations suggest that suffocation at the venue caused discomfort among attendees of the 'Satsang'. This led to a panicked rush, resulting in a stampede.
