On our final day at Ceylon Tea Trails' Dunkeld Bungalow, we once again had afternoon tea in our Owner's Cottage, this time served by Anoj. From our cottage, we also observed some local schoolchildren walking home from school.
Ceylon Tea Trails is a collection of luxury properties made up of five colonial-era tea-planters' bungalows, scattered around Castlereigh Reservoir. It's in Bogawantalawa Valley in the central Hill Country, dubbed the Golden Valley of Tea which is one of the major regions for tea-making in Sri Lanka.
Poised high above Castlereagh lake, the Dunkeld bungalow looks down on the verdant tea fields of Dunkeld estate and the tea factory, with panoramic views of the Great Western mountain range. The 120m² Owner's Cottage is the top accommodation at Tea Trails - it's a stand-alone villa and consists of a separate living room/bedroom, a private garden, and an outdoor jacuzzi hot tub overlooking the lake.
