I hate standard bottom paint! In this video I removed the bottom paint on our 1991 Corsair F27 Trimaran and used two methods. I strictly sanded the main hull, and I used a chemical stripper on the amas. What did I think was the better method? Well, it's complicated. That's kind of like asking what's better, a poop sandwich or a turd burrito? Both jobs suck because there's one constant, the poisonous, messy bottom paint.
In all reality both methods had their pros and cons. I think if the bottom paint were thicker the stripper method would prove better, but since there wasn't that much bottom paint on our boat, I think strictly sanding was better in this situation.

Learning the Lines is a channel about us, an average couple in our 20's, with big dreams to be sailing the world by the time we're in our 30's. We're not afraid to jump into anything, put in the work, and learn as we go. We started out with Somnium, an O'day 272, moved onto Freebie, an Endeavour 32, and now are focusing on sailboat tours and working full time as teachers while we save up for our next boat.
