Two very slow hours on the LGV Est near Reims, France yielded only 8 trains. The LGV Est is one of the newer high speed lines in France, and the route where the world speed record was set in 2007.
My primary target was Deutsche Bahn’s cross-border InterCity Express (ICE) trains from Frankfurt and Stuttgart to Gare de l’Est, the eastern lines train station in Paris. Additional traffic included two “local service” TGV Reseaus that serve intermediate stops along the LGV Est, as well as a somewhat rare TGV POS, which is back in the general system after the 19 trains were replaced by Duplex trains in Lyria service to Switzerland.
