You are a crewmate on board a spaceship when an alarm sounds warning of a reactor meltdown. You see a fellow crewmate enter the room and feel relieved to see a familiar face and finally get some help. But before you can even turn to greet him, he sneaks up behind you, pulls his gun out, and shoots. This is Among Us — the multiplayer mobile game that took the world by storm amid the global pandemic. A game session can get pretty intense, in this video, we give you a list of the most annoying things in Among Us.
Among Us, originally released in 2018, didn’t experience a massive surge of popularity until 2020. More mobile users downloaded Among Us than any other game worldwide. Data released by Apptopia ranks the year’s breakout hit at 41 million downloads in the US and 264 million downloads worldwide — beating out games such as PUBG Mobile and Roblox.
The game is based around ten players that are put on an alien ship. Each player receives the role of either “crewmate” or “imposter”. If deemed “crewmate”, the player travels around the ship completing tasks and trying to discern which of their fellow players is an imposter. If the role of “imposter” is given, it is the player’s job to kill other crewmates without getting caught.
Imposters can sabotage the ship’s systems such as lights, communications, and oxygen to cause chaos and kill more crewmates. Crewmates win by either completing all of their tasks or voting off all of the imposters, while imposters win by killing all of the crewmates either through sabotage or by picking them off one by one.
Just like any popular online game, some annoying player habits are incredibly common. Most people will recognize the frustration of someone calling an emergency meeting for no reason, or the lazy crewmate who doesn't do their tasks. Alongside those irritating behaviors here are the most annoying things about Among Us.
