The Master System version of Shinobi is pretty true to the arcade, for an 8-bit version. It's certainly better than the NES version, just look at the bonus stage ninjas lol. There's more power ups and bonuses throughout each stage but that darn statue boss is just as hard. What were they thinking with that thing?
