French National Front leader and presidential candidate Marine Le Pen refused to wear a head scarf just before her scheduled meeting with the top Muslim authority of Lebanon in Beirut on 21 February 2017.
Le Pen was on a three-day visit to Lebanon where she met senior officials and was scheduled to meet Grand Sunni Muslim Mufti Sheikh Abdel-Latif Derian. However, shortly after she arrived at the Grand Mufti's office, one of his aides gave her a head scarf to wear but she refused to put it on and decided to cancel the meeting and leave instead.
