During April 2013 Syrian government forces broke a rebel blockade on the Idblib highway. Later fighters began attacking Abu Duhur airbase. The government was still in control of the base, but rebels had been besieging the base for months. The Syrian Army used helicopters and fighter jets to shell rebel positions. Rebels were shelling the airport.
At the moment the Free Syrian Army is trying to take over all checkpoints in Idlib to manage to block all supplies to the city.
