COTOPAXI NATIONAL PARK | Day Trip from Quito, Ecuador & Hike to the Refuge!

With Quito Tour Bus, we took a day trip from Quito, Ecuador to Cotopaxi National Park with about 14 other people.

It takes a couple hours to get there, but we had a couple stops along the way for breakfast and coca tea.

We made a few stops in the park to take photos before arriving at the parking lot to hike up to the Jose Rivas Refuge or Refugio.

The hike is just over 2 miles round trip, but you reach nearly 16,000 feet which is higher than we've ever been before and some other people on our tour were definitely struggling. It's best to at least stay in Quito for a few days to help acclimate to the elevation before coming here.

The weather changed a lot, but was consistently cold and we're glad we were prepared for it. What a cool experience!
