At around 4:30pm on July 1, 2015 BFES and BPS responded to a multiple dwelling structure fire in the 3500 block of Rosser Ave. Fire Captain Richie arrived in FT-12 to find 1 house fully involved with fire and another neighbouring house's roof involved with fire. As BFES units started arriving Captain Richie assumed Command of the scene and started giving orders to arriving truck crews. Rescue, Quint, #15 Pump, Ambulance 2-3 and 1-2 also arrived to find heavy smoke and flames coming from both structures. It was immediately confirmed that there was nobody inside any of the houses. Upon arrival it was clear that crews were to go into a defensive attack to try and control the fire as best as possible. Crews started pulling lines off of #15 Pump and Quint, as well as hooking up supply lines to a nearby hydrant. BFES was able to keep the fire under control within about half an hour, although the houses were still smoking hours after the flames had been put out. According to the Brandon Sun, "Investigators announced that they'd determined the fire to be an accident, caused by an electrical failure in an air-conditioning unit that ignited wood on the house.", and, "Brandon Fire and Emergency Services Capt. Wade Richie said the home next door to Nowak's then caught fire from the sheer heat." Thankfully no one was injured during the fires.
