The Sacred Serpent Uraeus is an ancient Egyptian symbol of royalty, sovereignty, and protection.
It was depicted as a snake, typically a cobra. The cobra often represented the goddess Wadjet. Wadjet was a protective deity and daughter of the sun god, Re. Her job was essentially to help protect Egypt and the cosmos from chaos.
The ancient Egyptians believed that the Uraeus symbol can provide magical powers and protection. According to the Egyptian mythology, the cobra was given to the pharaohs from Geb, the god of the earth, as a sign of kingship. So The uraeus was attached to the front of the pharaoh's crown to declare the legitimacy of the pharaoh. It was shown with many pharaohs such as King Tutankhamun
