This story of the Peacock and the Crane is a short story which tells us that usefulness is better than mere beauty.
Once upon a time, a peacock and a crane lived in the same forest. The peacock was proud of his beautiful feathers. The crane, on the other hand, was envious of the peacock's beauty and wished he could have feathers like that too.
One day, the peacock and the crane went to a nearby pond to drink. The peacock saw his reflection in the water and was even more pleased with his feathers. He asked the crane, "Do you think there is anything as beautiful as my feathers?"
The crane replied, "Well, my feathers may not be as colourful as yours, but I am able to fly and travel to many different places. You are only able to stay on the ground and show off your feathers."
The peacock was taken aback by the crane's response and felt foolish for being so proud of his feathers. He realized that true beauty is not just about appearances, but also about one's abilities and talents.
The moral of the story is that outward appearances are not everything, and it is important to appreciate the unique talents and abilities of others. It also reminds us that pride can be blinding, and it is important to remain humble and open-minded.
