Note:
Things start off with a very well paced & played This Wheel's On Fire. Fitting song to open with, IMO. After that comes a very unique version of Shooting Star. These ears can kinda hear tones of what will eventually come upon Not Dark Yet off Time Out Of Mind which was released a little further up the road during the Fall of '97. ... Tis my favorite rendition & same goes for the next, Pretty Peggy-O. ... Well, this side of Jerry Garcia/Grateful Dead at least*.
Next two are both very heartfelt yet contrasting performances with A Hard Rain's A-Gonna Fall & Long Black Veil. ... Hard Rain is bright & spacious with perfect vocals by Mr. Dylan, and Black Veil has a dark/loose setting along with featuring some well executed group vocals on the chorus.
After those comes another cover song with a fun & romping rendition of, Viola Lee Blues.
Lastly is what many fans view as the definitive version of My Back Pages & tis hard to argue otherwise. ... Can really feel/hear the addition of new at the time band member Mr. Larry Campbell with his excellent violin works.
This little compilation with it's old covers & various arrangement styles are all intended to be a solid table setting glimpse into the direction of Bob Dylan's late career resurgence & more importantly, a fun little listen 😃. .... Hope all others that bother to give this a listen do go ahead & enjoy it as much as I do.
