While the "legend"of her martyrdom may not qualify as scientific criteria for contemporary historical criticism, the facts we can ascertain are sufficient to confirm St. Cecilia's glory with moral certainty. Constant devotion among the faithful, marked even by Papal action, suggests there is no reason to dismiss the story handed down through the ages as anything less than credible.
