2022 Hyundai Ioniq
The 2022 Ioniq Hybrid is part of the two-car Ioniq lineup that includes the separately reviewed Ioniq Plug-In Hybrid. Hyundai discontinued the Ioniq Electric for 2022. The Ioniq Hybrid is a good choice if you're looking for an affordable compact hybrid that has the added benefit of a hatchback body style. It gets an EPA-estimated 59 mpg combined in the base Blue trim and 55 mpg combined in the higher trims.
The Ioniq offers 26.5 cubic feet of cargo space behind the rear seats, which beats the room in any sedan and rivals what small SUVs offer. It also offers a generous list of standard features, including a few driver aids. If the Ioniq Hybrid doesn't meet all your needs, consider two hybrids that Hyundai recently added, the Elantra Hybrid sedan and the Tucson Hybrid SUV.
2022 Ford Escape
The Escape is Ford's small SUV that sits between the smaller Ford EcoSport and larger Ford Edge and three-row Explorer. It's also notable for its available hybrid powertrain. Picking the Escape Hybrid allows you to get increased fuel economy while still enjoying the model's roomy seating and comfortable ride. The EPA estimates that the hybrid will get around 40 mpg in combined driving, which is a 10-14 mpg boost over the non-hybrid engines on offer in the Escape.
The Escape Hybrid can be equipped in much the same way as the standard Escape and features one of the easier-to-use touchscreens in the class. You can also opt for niceties such as an upgraded B&O audio system, a panoramic sunroof and quite a few advanced driving assists.
2022 Toyota RAV4
Toyota hybrids have come a long way since the original Prius, and that growth is most apparent in the 2022 RAV4 Hybrid and RAV4 Prime plug in hybrid compact SUVs. These electrified utes deliver the same practicality and roominess of a standard RAV4 but add one of two available fuel-sipping powertrains. Both are quicker than the nonhybrid RAV4 especially the Prime, which even beat the four cylinder variant of Toyota's Supra sports car in our 5 to 60-mph rolling start acceleration test. The RAV4's uninvolving handling is outdone by rivals such as hybrid versions of the Honda CR-V and the Hyundai Tucson, and its high starting price of around $30,000 doesn't include much more than basic features.

2022 Toyota Avalon
he 2022 Toyota Avalon Hybrid large sedan blends excellent fuel economy with almost-luxurious accommodations. Although there are still a few large mainstream sedans on sale, none of them have a hybrid version in their ranges, like the Avalon.
The Avalon Hybrid is therefore one of a specific kind. And not long for this world. Toyota has announced that this year will be the last for the Avalon, regardless of drivetrain. So if anyone has a desire to own a new Avalon Hybrid but has yet to act on it, it’s now or never.
