I really wanted to get deep into the construction of Super Nintendo SNES music, especially Donkey Kong Country music. I have deconstructed the Title theme into a progressive reconstruction throughout the video. Using the SPC Soundchip to its full potention requires the magical talents of the likes of David Wise, Evelyn Fischer and other great composers to achieve it. And it shows when the music is deconstructed to expose its intricate waveforms, you can truly appreciate the sound design.
To achieve this, I used SPCTool to extract each DSP layer as a WAV from the original SPC files. Then I used Foobar2000 and Corrscope to show the waveforms in certain combinations of the DSP channels. I then finally arranged the clips in Sony Vegas and rendered at the best quality I could handle. I tried to give the look and feel of a jungle, but my software did not like a dark green background with a translucent layer of the DKC title screen in the back, so went back to black!
A huge inspiration for this is Carpathia808 who specialises in a lot of Deconstruction videos. Do checkout his videos: [ Ссылка ]
As I now have the setup finally tuned to the way I like it, feel free to request your favourite SNES themes, especially from the DKC series.
