Homemade Rocket Stove! The "BIG CAN" Steel Rocket Stove! Easy DIY. cost $4.50. items needed: 3 cans and dirt/gravel. that's it!. no special tools required! *even has a built-in pot stand. full simple instructions. stove is fueled with leaves, twigs, small sticks etc. super efficient way to cook as all the heat from flame goes directly up underneath pan. wind and light rain resistant. note: the best source i can find for the largest metal can (now that large metal coffee cans are hard to find) is in the grocery isle that sells hominy/menudo. (both often sold in very large cans. large can of hominy only cost $2.99). *i experimented with "4 post" and "8 post" designs (the thinking being that the 8 post design would burn stronger due to more air flow). the result is they seem to burn equally strong.
UPDATE: (06/01/2018)… if interested, here’s a youtube video link to my “most current” rocket stove design. This newest one is also made with a large metal can but has an extra-wide chimney, a larger fuel feed tube *and it has a metal “shelf” built into the feed tube! Youtube video link [ Ссылка ] …lastly, here’s a bonus link showing how to convert this newest rocket stove from a wood burning stove to a charcoal burning stove. [ Ссылка ]
