Armed with the innovative technology of D-BOX, the famed director creates an innovative VR Experience for Sony Pictures Goosebumps.


Rob Letterman has directed Shark Tale, Monsters vs. Aliens and Gulliver’s Travels to name just a few, but Goosebumps VR Adventure was one of his first experiences in which virtual reality drove the narrative. And it was not without its challenges.“ It used to be that VR combined with special effects created an uncanny valley effect causing a sense of revulsion towards the content,” says Letterman. “Now, the thing that saves this from happening is D-BOX because the movement of the seat shocks users back to their senses. With the seat moving perfectly in sync with Jack Black driving, it was an entirely believable experience. It felt like we were right there with him.”

To fully engage moviegoers, D-BOX teamed up with the award-winning sound engineering company E2 Sound to sync the motion with the scored music and create an unparalleled VR experience.

Sony pictures released Goosebumps VR Experience as an app that works with any IOS or Android system.
