Chithi Tells about the suffering of a woman, Meenakshi (Padmini) who was in charge of caring for her mother and seven siblings. She is the sole earner of the house and wants her brother Balu (Muthuraman) to be a doctor. She also dreams of getting her mute sister married. Meenakshi is in love with a man (Gemini Ganeshan) but agrees to marry him only after her brother's studies were over. Periya Sami (M.R.Radha), a widower and a rich man has eight children. He is a womanizer and he wants to marry a young lady, not for caring him and his family, but only for physical relationship. He is now in search for a woman and crosses path with Meenakshi. What happens next?
