Tomatillo Avocado Salsa
Don’t you love a simple recipe that’s full of flavor and texture? Salsa verde can be prepped in many ways. I enjoy the roasted greens and the added spice. Blend it all together and throw in an avocado to concoct a pinch of creaminess.
Tomatillos translate to “little tomato,” but it’s actually a green fruit with a tart flavor used in a variety of dishes. I fell in love with a salsa verde sauce that is found at two of my favorite Mexican restaurants. So I tried to replicate their recipes. It’s so good and 💯 approved by my husband.
All you need:
Ingredients
•1 tablespoon oil (I used grapeseed)
•2 tomatillos, husked + rinsed
•2 whole jalapeños, seeded for heat but optional
•2 cloves garlic, peeled
•1/4 cup cilantro
•1 teaspoon chicken bouillon
•1 Avocado
Directions
•Heat oil in a pan on medium-high heat and brown or toast tomatillos, jalapeños and garlic until slightly charred and soft.
•Once toasted add to a blender. Then add the cilantro and bouillon. Blend until smooth.
•Now, add the avocado and continue to blend. Blend until well combined and consistency preferred.
🌱Helpful Tips
•Browning ingredients on a stovetop adds more flavor. You can also roast or boil ingredients.
•Deseed jalapeños if you don’t want it spicy.
