Royal Australian Navy submarine HMAS Sheean (SSG 77) and patrol boat HMAS Armidale (ACPB 83) have arrived in Devonport to mark Anzac Day. The northern Tasmanian city, at the mouth of the Mersey river is the hometown of Ordinary Seaman Edward “Teddy” Sheean.
Sheean was posthumously awarded the Victoria Cross in 2020 for his distinguished service in action during World War II on board the first HMAS Armidale. Over the coming days, crews from both vessels will participate in Anzac Day services and activities around the region.
