Read along to practice your English and to learn the English phrase NO WAY!
So today I wanted to help you learn the English expression no way. The English expression no way is just a stronger way of saying no. It does have more than one meaning though, and I'll get to the next meaning in a little bit. But you can use it to express that you don't want to do something. So if someone said to you, "You need to sleep more, "you don't sleep enough." You could say, "No way, I sleep plenty every night. "I get seven hours of sleep and that's enough." Maybe someone could say to you, "You need to stop smoking." You could say, "No way, I don't wanna stop smoking, "I really enjoy it." By the way, if you are a smoker, you should probably stop smoking. Just between you and me, it's just not very healthy. But anyways, you can use the expression no way to just say no in a way where you are emphasizing that you are saying no. So if someone said to me, "Bob, you need to exercise less." I would say, "No way, I'm going to exercise more." So when you say no way in English, it's just a way of saying no.
Now here's the funny thing, 'cause I did flip the page, by the way, it says no way on both sides. You can also use the expression no way to express disbelief. This morning it started raining, and I went to Jen and I said, "It's raining outside," and Jen said, "No way!" So when you say no way in that way, it means that you don't believe what the person said, or you're a little bit surprised by it. And it's actually still raining now. If I went and told Jen that it was still raining, she would probably say, "No way, that's awesome!" Because it will help all the plants to grow. So the expression no way can mean no in a really strong and emphatic way, and it can also mean that you just don't quite believe someone or you're surprised at what they said. So anyways, Bob the Canadian here, and you're learning English with me. Hope you're having a good day, and I will see you tomorrow with another little English lesson.
