Is it worth visiting small towns in Europe? In this Transylvania Travel Vlog, we are taking a train from Timisoara to Alba Iulia! This is day 10 of our Transylvania Train Series.


Day 10 of our Transylvania Train Series took us by train from Timisoara to Alba Iulia. Trains in Transylvania are great, the journey took five hours to get from Timișoara to Alba Iulia. The train tickets cost $13 per person! Cities in Transylvania and Romania are very well connected. This is just one way that Romania is one of Europe’s most underrated countries when traveling on a budget, it is easy for travelers to get around.

Alba Iulia is a city in Western Transylvania, Romania. It is the capital of Alba county and has one of the most beautiful Habsburg citadels of Europe.

In Alba Iulia, we visited the beautiful Parcul Unirii, then stumbled upon a local street food festival. The following day we made sure to visit the Reunification Cathedral along with St. Michael's Cathedral. We wrapped up the day by checking out the Alba Carolina Fortress. The Alba Carolina Citadel is a star-shaped fortress located in Alba Iulia. Its construction commenced on November 4, 1715 during the Habsburg rule in Transylvania, and was completed in 1738.
