Исла́м Абдугани́евич Кари́мов (узб. Islom Abdug‘aniyevich Karimov; Ислом Абдуғаниевич Каримов; 30 января 1938, Самарканд, Узбекская ССР, СССР — 2 сентября 2016, Ташкент, Узбекистан[2][3]) — советский и узбекский государственный и политический деятель, первый президент Республики Узбекистан, управлявший страной с момента обретения ею независимости в 1991 году вплоть до своей смерти в 2016 году.
В 1990—1992 годах — глава правительства Узбекистана. В советский период занимал должности Первого секретаря ЦК Коммунистической партии Узбекистана (1989—1991) и президента Узбекской ССР (1990—1991).
Четырежды побеждал на президентских выборах (в 1991, 2000, 2007 и 2015 годах), каждый раз, по официальным данным, получая свыше 90 % голосов избирателей (кроме выборов 1991 года, где набрал 87 %). Дважды продлевал срок полномочий с помощью национальных референдумов (в 1995 и 2002 годах). Носил неофициальный титул юртбаши́[4].
