(31 Dec 1941) Hitler's Response: The Folly Of Appeasement
Discarding the Munich Pact, Hitler and Mussolini pursue their course of aggression. Germany marches into Prague and occupies Czechoslovakia, Italy moves into Albania. Then, mocking the appeal made by U.S. President Franklin D. Roosevelt on April 14, 1938, for a 10-year guarantee of peace, Hitler addresses the Reichstag and announces the long list of countries he intends to conquer.
Soviet-German Non-Aggression Pact
On August 23, 1939, Hitler brings together Premier Molotov of the U.S.S.R and Von Ribbentrop of Germany to sign a Russo-German friendship treaty. It is a remarkable move, since Hitler has attributed his actions in Europe to date to a major crusade against Communism.
