Prosecutors in the Democratic Republic of Congo have put the president's chief of staff Vital Kamerhe on trial for embezzlement and corruption.
But Kamerhe has denied any wrongdoing and his supporters say the charges are politically motivated
He was expected to succeed President Felix Tshisekedi in 2023.
