Have you ever listened to wild wolves howling under a dark sky while a ballet of light dances above? There’s nothing quite like Nanuk Lodge on Earth…

Explore Magazine contributor Alicia-Rae Light took a ten-day expedition on Churchill Wild’s newest program, The Cloud Wolves of the Kaska Coast—A citizen-science and field research expedition where guests get up close and personal with the resident pack of wolves (Canis Lupus Nubilus).
Watch as she takes an unforgettable journey to the Canadian sub-Arctic Boreal forest in Northern Manitoba, with the stunning, remote, eco-friendly Nanuk Lodge in the heart of the Kaska Coast of southern Hudson Bay as her home base.
The Kaska Coast is an uninhabited wilderness ten times the size of Yellowstone National Park, and with this new program by Churchill Wild, she discovers the thrill of tracking, watching, photographing, and studying enigmatic wolves in the wild. These wolves have never been studied, tagged, or hunted, creating a unique opportunity to see them in their true, wild, habitat. They collect feces and hair samples, learn to identify the wolves in the pack by their unique characteristics, and approach them carefully on foot.
