Nobody likes that surprise moment of a period coming out of nowhere! So here are some things to look out for so your period doesn’t catch you by surprise
Cravings: did you know that your body triggers certain signals that may make you crave certain foods right away?
Breakouts: it’s normal to have a breakout one to two weeks before your period. But don’t worry, these typically clear up after your period.
Spotting: this is an obvious sign, but still a sign! This is because progesterone (the hormone responsible for maintaining your uterine lining) starts to decrease prematurely and thus causes some spotting.
Mood swings: right before your period, estrogen and progesterone levels drop, which can influence your mood. You may notice you are irritable, easily upset, or a little sad a day or two before your period starts.
Cramping: Cramping can also happen before your period even starts!
Fatigue: It’s normal to be a bit more tired at the end of your cycle because of a drop in hormone levels.
Breast tenderness: breast tenderness is normal with any drastic change in the cycle, including right before your period.
