Mr. Sam Pitroda extends an invitation to Indian and International media for an online (Zoom) press conference scheduled for January 25th at to engage in discussions regarding the EVM/VVPAT system.

January 25th is National Voter’s Day dedicated to the voters of India.
January 26th is the Republic Day when the constitution of India came into
effect.

It is imperative for Voters to make sure that the vote they are casting is
the vote being counted” during 2024 national election to protect their
constitution and their basic voting rights.
Modern India’s greatest pride is that it is the world’s largest and a vibrant
democracy.

Over the last few years, however, there have been serious concerns
regarding the country’s electoral process largely due to lack of public trust in
EVM/VVPAT voting and counting which does not comply with the essential
‘Democracy Principles’ - that each voter should be able to verify that her vote is cast-as-intended, recorded-as-cast and counted-as-recorded.
The Citizens’ Commission on Elections, headed by a former Judge of the
Supreme Court of India, after consulting top national and international experts on the subject has come to this conclusion: “Due to the absence of End-to-End (E2E) verifiability, the present EVM/VVPAT system is not verifiable and therefore is unfit for democratic elections”

This has caused considerable consternation and commotion among the people leading to vocal voices and public protests demanding the discarding of EVMs and returning to paper ballots for the forthcoming General Election to India’s Parliament due in next couple of months.
