Winter is a magical time to live in Sweden. The streets are covered in snow and everything gets a beautiful glow, especially at night. But for some people it’s not all that magical.
In this video I discuss the climate in Sweden and the Nordics during winter, and I also go into Seasonal Affective Disorder - a mood disorter in which normally stable people suddenly display symptoms of depression during certain periods of the year.
In Sweden, there's very little sunlight during the winter months. It's pitch black when you leave for work in the morning, and it's dark when you return home. Basically, you live in constant darkness for several months every year. This quickly takes its toll both mentally and physically, as you don't get enough Vitamin D.
In the video I also discuss the rate of winter depression, with a special note about Iceland and how they handle winter depression much better than other Nordic countries. On the flip side, Sweden is on the other side of that coin, with the highest suicide rate in the Nordics.
This is a video less about travel and adventure, and more about what it really is like to live in Sweden during the winter. For more videos every week, subscribe to the channel: [ Ссылка ]
