(SEE UPDATE AT END OF DESCRIPTION FOR SOLUTION)
2003 Kia Rio is making a really loud noise when driving. Sounds like a helicopter. Sound varies with speed. See video.
Mechanic changed one wheel bearing about 9months ago, but from what I remember, the sound has only got worse since then.
Can't tell if noise goes quiet when I turn steering wheel one way or not. Makes a noise simply driving straight.
Any suggestions on what it is?
(Note: you can hear the sounds while driving, but more noticeable when slowing down as engine making less noise)
UPDATE: took it to the Kia dealership – they stated it was my tires which were worn and that were making that noise. I replaced 2 of the 4 tires (the rear looked good still) and the sound improved a lot, but was still there and noticeable. Perhaps if the back 2 were changed, that would have removed more of the sound. So it could be your tires after all!
