Redd Volkaert about his Esquire #3187: "I used that guitar on countless recordings during my Nashville years. It sounded so good, I just loved it"
The great Redd Volkaert owned this Esquire for many years and it has been his faithful companion on countless gigs and studio sessions. It was re-fretted with 6105 medium jumbos, and the saddle was also replaced at some point. The neck has a fairly beefy, but by no means bulky profile, which is just fantastic to feel and play. As usual with the Esquires at that time, the routing for the neck PU was present under the pickguard.
Exact this guitar was replicated for us from Greg Fessler. The closest thing to the neck shape was the "57 Style Soft V", which is almost identical in size to the original (0.860" / 0.990"). The dimensions of the fret wire were also adopted, the fretboard radius is slightly flatter at 9.5" (original 7.25") in favor of playability.
Additional notes: early 1952 Esquire. all slot head screws except trussrod & control plate, very thin lacquer and Nocaster Blonde finish just like the 1951 model, back of neck partially stripped (not complete), heavy worn fretboard. Fret ends almost straight, not so much rounded. Routing for neck-PU should be available.
