Trooping the Colour is a centuries-old tradition, which marks the official birthday of the British Sovereign and will soon see King Charles III and Queen Camilla back on the balcony of Buckingham Palace in their new roles for the first time. However, it is also the first time in history that the head of the Royal Family’s children will not all be in attendance as His Majesty’s youngest son and daughter-in-law, the Duke and Duchess of Sussex, are said to be “not welcome”.
This year, there will be a huge deviation from normal traditions as stated by The Daily Mail’s Richard Eden. In his column, he said: “Prince Harry and Meghan have not been invited to the King’s Birthday Parade. It will be the first time in Harry’s life that he has not been welcome at the monarch’s official birthday celebrations.”
A source told Eden: “I’m afraid it’s a reflection of the state of relations at the moment.”
Not only will the Sussexes not be part of the big day, but neither will their children, Prince Archie, four, and Princess Lilibet who recently turned two years of age.
