Here is a short video on how Maxi-Therm use a heat exchanger on steam applications like building heat and domestic hot water
Steam design as been done the same way for the last 100 years. By using Maxi-Therm Vertical flooding heat exchanger design not only we reduce the quantity of lbs/hr of steam to heat the same load of BTU but also, it reduce installation as weel as maintenance costs.
Because they a vertical flooded steam heat exchanger, that allows them to use high pressure steam. By doing so, they don't need pressure reducing valve and, most of the time, they don't need condensate return pump which require a flash tank with a vent pipe to the roof. Those two components are maintenance nightmare.
By using high pressure steam, the heat exchanger comes with a high pressure stamp on it (ASME, CRN, etc. depending of your location). This allow the need of a steam safety valve. Again no vent to the roof but most importantly, less maintenance.
