(31 May 2016) European integration and regional cooperation of the Western Balkans as well as challenges facing southeast Europe were high on the agenda of a meeting of the foreign ministers of the countries of the region held on Tuesday in the Bulgarian town of Pravets.
Bulgaria's Foreign Minister Daniel Mitov said the three priority areas of the Bulgarian chairmanship of the the South-East European Cooperation Process (SEECP) were energy and transport connectivity, the flow of migrants and freedom of expression and the media.
Croatian foreign minister Miro Kovac, whose country will take over the chairmanship of the group, said that the countries of the region will have to stay committed to combating terrorism and radicalisation.
Delegates agreed that political stability, improved infrastructure and energy connectivity, independence of judicial systems and combating corruption are essential for attracting fresh investments to the region.
