Today for the first time, we take a closer look at the Jagdpanzer 38 / Hetzer tank destroyer. I made this small, kinda eastern front like environment. 5 Hetzer tanks have dug in themselves nicely at the edges of the forest and are waiting for their prey to show up. So suddenly they spot 5 T-34-85, then another 5, 5 and 5, resulting in 20 Soviet tanks coming in waves. Hetzer, equipped with the PaK39 main gun is good enough to deal with those mass-produced tanks and front armor effective thickness (120mm) is actually thicker than the Tiger I. Front lower armor plate is definitely a weak point though, in this scenario, they dug in, so this plate is nicely protected by the ground. A serious threat, however, can be exposing side(s) (20mm) to the enemy.
So it's really just up to the crew and luck how effective and how long the tank will survive.
